Safeguarding Tools

Improve your school's eSafety and safeguarding policies with our range of tools within NetSupport DNA. Its proactive and reactive tools are has been developed with teachers, safeguarding leads, local authorities and the Internet Watch Foundation to ensure your school's safeguarding policy is truly effective and meet the requirements set out in the Prevent Duty legislation and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ statutory guidance.

Internet Metering: Set school-wide lists of allowed and restricted websites and control access by time of day.

Report a Concern: This feature allows students to report concerns directly and discreetly to nominated school staff. Students can also attach documents and/or a screen grab to their report to evidence the details of their concern.

Webcam Control: Disable webcams on classroom devices to prevent students misusing them.

Keyword Monitoring: Using advanced neurolinguistics technology, this feature provides schools with an insight into what students are typing and tracks application use for context. It draws on an extensive database of keywords and phrases (available in a range of languages) covering the spectrum of safeguarding topics, alerting the school of activity placing a student at risk. A word cloud is also created for each category, highlighting trending terms and providing further details on the entry.

Set User Views: In schools that are linked (e.g. multi-academy trusts), this feature allows a school to see only its own data on an operational level.

‘Vulnerable’ Students: Students ‘at risk’ can be flagged on the system or viewed in a dynamic group, helping staff to easily identify and monitor them from a single view.

Acceptable Use Policies: Providing a flexible module to support the delivery and tracking of AUPs across a school, multiple policies (e.g. separate staff/student templates), can be applied either to specific devices or to users for one-time display and acknowledgement.

Online Resources: To give students additional options to access help independently, NetSupport DNA provides a link they can access for additional online resources and helplines in their chosen country. Staff can also manage the prepopulated list and add any additional ones they feel are appropriate.

NetSupport Notify allows an administrator to deliver within seconds a clear and concise message or instruction to all connected computers, specific users/devices or selected departments. To support your message, clickable links to websites and network resources can also be included, plus each message can carry a priority level and a request for acknowledgment.

Reporting and Tracking
All delivered messages are recorded centrally, registering both the time the message was delivered and acknowledged by the user.

Schedule Alerts in Advance
Routine alerts can be pre-scheduled for a fixed time and date in the future or be applied on a recurring basis – hourly, daily weekly etc. These are ideal for campus-wide events such as fire drills or routine IT system downtime.
